Overview

Application S.O.S. is a comprehensive program designed to give rising high school seniors a head start on their college applications by providing the resources required for students to navigate the nuts and bolts of the application process.

Students learn how to organize their applications and essays in a way that shines a light on their talents, interests, and unique gifts. We help students navigate college lists, recommendation letters, personal statements, and supplemental questions, along with the basic information required for the Common Application.

What to Expect:

In addition to personalized assistance, all students will receive the following:

Pre-Camp Checklist:
Two weeks before the start of the Boot-camp, students will receive a detailed checklist of what to have on hand in order to be prepared from Day One.
Overview of the CommonApp:
The CommonApp is the primary application accepted by over 800 colleges and universities. This includes step-by-step instructions on how to complete applications before the conclusion of the Boot-camp.
Essay Writing Tips:
Students will receive brainstorming, formatting, and editing ideas to help with their Personal Statements and Supplemental Essays
College Planning:
All students will leave with a comprehensive spreadsheet to keep applications, essays, and supplemental questions organized.
Communicating with Colleges:
Attendees will learn how to best present themselves to colleges. Tips include interview techniques, how to engage in “demonstrated interest,” the importance of researching colleges, as well as written and verbal communication with admissions officers.
Activity List:
Participants will up-level activities to maximize their impact.

Students will have opportunities to ask questions throughout the sessions and interact directly with the instructor and with the other participating students. Students will be provided with detailed resources to help them understand the application process and stay organized with tasks and timing.
